The conference was opened by ɫ Vice-President Chingiz Shamshiev, thanking the participants and noting the relevance of the topic.

“We understand that with deep social changes that are the result of the implementation of new technologies, the requirements for the professions also change dramatically. All professions can either change or even disappear in the next 5-10 years. For example, accounting in its current form definitely will not exist, at least in developed countries. This raises the question for educational institutions: what to teach our students, what competencies they should inculcate, how to make our graduates in demand on the labor market. And we understand that we must teach our students something that technologies will never learn: critical thinking, the ability to think creatively, analysis skills and a critical approach to information, finding solutions in non-standard situations. Possessing these competencies, our students will become indispensable and ready for a rapidly changing world, ” Mr. Shamshiev addressed the conference participants.

ɫ Vice-President stressed the importance of declaring this year as the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization of the country.

“Regional development and digitalization combination has great importance. In order to provide high-quality public services in remote regions, where basic infrastructure is often lacking, such as roads and IT-technologies can play a decisive role, ”said Mr. Shamshiev.
