1) Please introduce yourself and tell us how you got acquainted with WARC.

My name is Amaliya. I am currently studying in my third year of Journalism and Mass Communications. I was first introduced to WARC in my first year of study, as many people talked about its usefulness and shared their good results. After that, I became more interested in it and realized I wanted to become a part of this community. It was a chance to teach others about my skills and abilities and learn from someone else.

2) Why did you decide to become a tutor at WARC?

I firmly believe in the value and advantages of collaborative work, so I decided to become a tutor. When I analyzed my desire to become a tutor, I concluded that this is an opportunity for me to develop different skills and perspectives through collaborative work with tutees. This mutual exchange really inspired me.Ìý

3) Tell us how the selection for the tutor position went and if there were any difficulties.

The selection process was quite pleasant and less stressful than I expected it to be. In the first stage, I had to submit some documents such as letters of recommendation, my statement of interest in becoming a writing tutor, a transcript, and that I had closed the required course "Writing to Teach You: Theory and Practice of Composition Pedagogy". After submitting all the documents, the interview stage came. I was initially nervous about this stage because I didn't know what questions they would ask or what kind of feedback I could expect. However, I felt at ease as soon as I walked into the WARC office for the interview because of the kind and calming environment that pervaded the space. Throughout all the stages, I received a lot of support from my close people, from WARC coordinators and professors who wrote me letters of recommendation.Ìý

4) What do you expect from working/tutoring at WARC?

Throughout my role as a tutor at WARC, I aim to advance both personally and professionally. I expect to gain a great deal of knowledge from both my students and my coworkers because every interaction offers new perspectives and an opportunity to comprehend various learning requirements and methods. My objective is to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that will benefit the WARC community.
