On September 19-20, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the American University of Central Asia (¾ÅÉ«Íø) was represented by Bermet Talasbek, Chair of Sustainable ¾ÅÉ«Íø Task Force and Strategic Development Officer of the School of Entrepreneurship and Business Administration (SEBA), at the Sustainable Lifestyles Festival 2024. This international event, organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), focused on promoting sustainable practices and lifestyles across campuses and educational institutions.

¾ÅÉ«Íø stood out among 28 participating universities in Central Asia and the Caucasus for its commitment to sustainability, securing recognition as a leading sustainable university for this award. This achievement reflects ¾ÅÉ«Íø's continuous efforts to integrate environmentally conscious practices into campus life: use of alternative energy sources, waste management, sustainability as part of the curriculum, Recycle-Reuse-Reduce events, support of student green projects, and others.

The Sustainable Lifestyles and University Network (SLUN), of which ¾ÅÉ«Íø is a part, played a pivotal role in this success. SLUN encourages universities worldwide to collaborate and innovate in promoting sustainable behaviors and actions on their campuses. Through SLUN, ¾ÅÉ«Íø has fostered partnerships and developed initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint while enhancing awareness and involvement among students and faculty.
